And God looked upon the children of Israel, and God had respect unto them. Exodus 2:25
Time passed following Moses’ failed attempt to lead the people but the troubles remained. A new Pharaoh continued the persecution the Jews had become familiar with. The oppression took its toll on the Hebrews.
Sighed – the people grieved and mourned due to the hardship.
Cried – the people wailed in anguish because of the bondage.
For the Jews life was absolutely miserable. The worst part was there appeared to be no end in sight and no indication of a deliverer. Moses had moved to the backside of the desert, and the Hebrews had no strength to throw off the chains of bondage. What they did have was the LORD’S attention.
God heard their cries – their bitter wailing was not in vain because God listens to His people. He not only heard them cry but He also knew the cause. Let this encourage you to pray to God because He hears!
God remembered His covenant – to the afflicted Hebrews it may have appeared that God forgot His promise but He did not. He would keep His word, He always does.
God saw the affliction – He was a witness to their troubles.
God knew the situation – nothing occurs without God’s knowledge of it.
He understood the struggles of each person.
The Hebrews would discover that God knew all about their troubles. He never forsook them but allowed affliction into their lives to prepare them for deliverance.
Are you troubled? The LORD is aware. Take comfort knowing God is able to fix all problems, settle all matters, and deal with all difficulties.
